Forty-three HSU Student-Athletes Recognized for Academic Excellence

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Forty-three Humboldt State student-athletes were recognized as members of the California Collegiate Athletic Association’s (CCAA) record 614 All-Academic selections for the 2014-15 academic year.

HSU also sponsors varsity football and rowing programs, of which 19 members also recorded qualifying marks. If both sports were CCAA members, the Lumberjacks would rank third in the conference with 62 total All-Academic award winners.

The Green and Gold total ranked higher than four other CCAA programs: Cal State Los Angeles (15), San Francisco State (41), Cal State San Bernardino (40) and Cal State Dominguez Hills (40). UC San Diego led all members with 88 All-Academic selections.

Below is the criterion necessary to earn All-Academic honors:

1) Varsity student-athlete (must have earned a varsity letter per institutional criteria - e.g., no red-shirt student-athletes are eligible for this award)

2) Must be a student-athlete in one of the 12 CCAA-sponsored sports (men's cross country, women's cross country, men's soccer, women's soccer, women's volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's golf, men's outdoor track & field, women's outdoor track & field, baseball, and softball)

3) Undergraduate student athletes must earn a grade point average for the 2014-15 academic year of 3.40 or higher in a minimum of 24 semester/36 quarter units completed at the certifying institution.  Non-graded units may be included in the 24/36 unit total. Undergraduate student-athletes who are graduating mid-year must earn a 3.4 grade point average or higher in all units taken the final academic year of attendance (Revised: 9/12, 1/13)
