Former Humboldt State Women’s Soccer Standout, Katelin Talbert, Signs Professional Contract With FHingar

Former Humboldt State University women’s soccer standout, Katelin Talbert, on Monday afternoon signed a professional contract with Fhingar out of Finland.  Talbert will play with FHingar this summer in the Lengja League.

 "Throughout Katelins career at Humboldt State, we saw her passion and love for the game in everything she did,” said Humboldt State Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach Taylor McMillin. “Katelin always had a soccer ball with her and would kick it around wherever she had the opportunity. We are incredibly proud of her and so happy she has signed with FHingar to continue her soccer career and reach her goal of playing professionally. The Humboldt State community will be cheering her on and we wish her the best of luck on her new journey."

 Talbert graduated this past May from Humboldt State University, where she was a member of the Lumberjack women’s soccer team from 2016 to 2019. During her career, she started in 37 of the 38 matches she played in goal for HSU.  She played in over 3,460 minutes in goal posting a 1.24 goals against average.  Talbert gave up 48 goals and recorded 179 saves for a .793 saves percentage.

 “I am very excited to start my pro career it’s something I’ve wanted to do since I was young,” said Talbert.  “I’ve always had such a huge passion for the game and nothing makes me happier than to be out on the field! Thankful that Humboldt gave me the opportunity and experience to grow as a player!”

The future FHingar goalkeeper had eight shutouts in goal during her career in the Green and Gold.  She posted a career high 12 saves in HSU’s 2-1 loss at No. 8 UC San Diego, October 13, 2017.  During her senior season, Talbert earned 2019-20 CCAA All-Academic Team honors and was named to the Dean’s List at HSU.
