Farewell to Lisa Castellino

July 23, 2020

Dr. Lisa Castellino, Humboldt State’s Associate Vice President for the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE), has taken a new position at West Virginia University (WVU). Beginning in August, Dr. Castellino will serve as the inaugural Associate Vice President of Institutional Data and Analytics at WVU.

At WVU, Dr. Castellino will lead the creation of a shared vision for institutional analytics and will be responsible for communicating and implementing that vision. She will oversee the creation of data dashboards, visualization and analysis tools building WVU’s capacity for analysis and data-informed decision making.

Dr. Castellino joined Humboldt State University in August, 2014. While at HSU she led the significant transformation from an Institutional Research to an Institutional Effectiveness framework and created HSU’s first ever Environmental Scan, noted by the CSU as a model for the system.

Interim Provost Bond-Maupin said, “We are grateful to Dr. Castellino for her leadership and many contributions to Humboldt State. Her leadership has resulted in state-of-the-art data analytics and grown our data-informed approach to decision making and resource allocation. She helped lead us to our integrated planning, assessment, and budget processes which will help continue to position us well with our accreditors. We wish Lisa well and know that WVU will enjoy the benefits of her leadership.”

About this move, Dr. Castellino says, “I am a native of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Relocating to the East Coast, specifically the Appalachians is much like going back home. But I will really miss HSU.”

To maintain operational continuity following Dr. Castellino’s departure, effective July 31, Michael Le has graciously agreed to serve as Interim Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness. Michael’s vast experience and expertise will not only help to maintain operations, but his leadership will minimize disruption for the OIE team. Michael’s willingness to step up in support of Academic Affairs and the University is very much appreciated.
