Elevation of the Executive Director of Enrollment Management
Dear Cal Poly Humboldt Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce a structural change that further stabilizes our enrollment management operations, and allows us to continue Cal Poly Humboldt's progress towards increased enrollment and attainment of our polytechnic goals.
As part of our continued transformation, we are elevating the position of Executive Director of Enrollment Management and Financial Aid to the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management (AVP EM) and Director of Financial Aid. This is not the introduction of a new position to the Enrollment Management & Student Success (EMSS) division, but instead an expansion of an existing role that better aligns us with enrollment structures across the CSU and provides enhanced leadership depth essential to the effective function of this extensive division.
In her new capacity, Peggy Metzger, who has been a steadfast advocate for our students as Executive Director of EM and Financial Aid, will now carry this expanded AVP title and continue her oversight of Financial Aid, Admissions, Registrar and TRIO/EOP departments. This elevation places two AVPs within the division, one with a focus on Enrollment Management and another with a focus on Student Success, and together they will work with me to operationalize the Strategic Enrollment Management Plan and manage the day-to-day work of the division.
Our campus has long known that enrollment efforts are essential to our future success. However, we have not, until now, staffed the division in a manner that ensures strategic direction and leadership support for a successful dual focus on enrollment and retention. This change further signals our prioritization of enrollment strategy that includes a commitment to access, affordability, and collaboration between enrollment and student success efforts.
Peggy will continue to lead our financial aid efforts as well, providing oversight for all federal, state, and institutional aid initiatives, including our signature Green & Gold Guarantee. In the 2.5 years I have worked with Peggy, I have seen her unerring commitment to our students and have benefited from her deep knowledge of this campus and community that comes not only from her almost 24 years on our campus, but from the work she has done to engage in the strategic enrollment professional landscape. I am delighted to work with her in this elevated capacity, and this is another step in creating the EMSS structure we need to ensure the achievement of our goals.
Please join me in congratulating Peggy on her new role, and I look forward to sharing phenomenal enrollment news with you all in the fall, as we continue our upward trajectory, driven by both new enrollment and retention growth.
Sincerely,
Chrissy Holliday
Vice President for Enrollment Management & Student Success
