COVID-19 Supplemental Paid Sick Leave (SPSL)

February 24, 2022

As we make our way through the COVID-19 pandemic, the safety and well-being of our campus community remain top priority. Signed by the Governor on February 9, 2022, Senate Bill 114 provides for new supplemental paid sick leave (SPSL) up to 80 hours (prorated based on full time equivalency) and is available effective January 1, 2022 for employees unable to work due to COVID-19-related reasons.

All employees are eligible for SPSL (except for work-study student assistants), with up to 40 hours being available for various COVID-related reasons, and an additional 40 hours being available if the employee or a family member contracts COVID-19.

Please review the information posted on the Leaves & Disability webpage for more information about eligibility, qualifying reasons for use, and how to request SPSL. (Auxiliary employees should reach out their respective organizations for more information about how to request SPSL).
