Commencement Guest Update and Staff Participation

April 20, 2021

We’re excited to share that Humboldt State University will be able to allow up to two guests per graduate for the upcoming in-person Commencement ceremonies.

Graduates must still register by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21. Only those who have registered for Commencement by the deadline are allowed to register their guests.

To comply with safety protocols and public health guidelines, advanced registration is required to enter Redwood Bowl. There will be no exceptions. More information about guest registration will be sent to students shortly. Anyone traveling from outside California is expected to quarantine for at least 10 days OR provide proof of being fully vaccinated.

STAFF PARTICIPATION
Staff play an important role in the success of our students. If you want to be involved on this special day, work is available performing a variety of commencement-related activities. Or you can participate in regalia and sit with faculty on the field.

The ceremonies will be held on Friday, May 14 and Saturday, May 15 in Redwood Bowl at the following times on each day:

  • 9:00 a.m.—College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences
  • 12:30 p.m.—College of Natural Resources & Sciences
  • 4:00 p.m.—College of Professional Studies

There may be CTO, schedule adjustments, or overtime for those willing to work at the Commencement ceremonies. Staff who would like to work are asked to make arrangements with their supervisor in advance and then fill out the interest form. Food is provided for support staff working the event.

Staff who would like to participate in regalia are asked to make arrangements with their supervisor prior to filling out the interest form. There will be up to 100 available seats per ceremony for faculty and staff participating in regalia. Seating will be located by the front of the stage and chairs placed 6 feet apart in order to maintain distancing and meet safety requirements. Information on how to order regalia (if needed) will be sent to those staff who are interested.

Supervisors or managers with any questions on how to administer CTO, schedule adjustments, or overtime for Commencement should contact Human Resources.

Find more information on the Commencement website or email grad@humboldt.edu with questions.

Thank you for all you do to help students celebrate this major achievement in their lives.
