Clarification: Public Meetings on Impaction Status of Wildlife Program

February 12, 2021

This message clarifies the previous message about impaction and the purpose of the meetings.

The campus community is invited to attend any of the three virtual public meetings to discuss the proposed plan to remove the impaction status of the Wildlife program starting in Fall 2022.

Currently, the Wildlife program is designated as impacted because it had previously received more qualified applicants than available seats, making entrance to the program a selective and competitive process. Under impaction status, supplemental admission criteria may be used and students who meet the minimum California State University (CSU) requirements are not guaranteed admission.

Removing impaction at the program level will make admission more accessible for all incoming freshmen and transfer students applying to this program.

Feedback regarding impaction will be recorded in each of the three meetings and shared with campus leadership.

Faculty, staff, and students can register to attend any of the meetings or provide feedback at humboldt.edu/impaction.
