The following message is from the City of Arcata:

The City of Arcata has contracted with Kernen Construction to repave portions of the City’s roads for the 2022 Grind & Inlay Project. Work areas will include sections of 10th Street between N Street and F Street, Samoa Boulevard from the Highway 101 Overpass to Union Street, and the LK Wood Boulevard and Sunset Avenue intersection. 

Construction is scheduled to begin on the evening of Tuesday, September 6th, 2022.  Working hours (for all three locations) will be at night (from 6 PM to 6 AM). The first location beginning on Tuesday is at the intersection of LK Wood Boulevard and Sunset Avenue. The second location will begin on Wednesday, September 7th, 2022 along sections of 10th Street between N Street and F Street. The final location is anticipated to begin on Monday, September 19th, 2022 with work taking place along Samoa Boulevard between Union Street and the Highway 101 overpass. There will be one-way controlled traffic and flaggers present along the work areas. Full road closures may occur intermittently on portions of 10th Street after the hours of 10PM. 

We apologize for any inconvenience that the work may cause during the project. On days of the scheduled work, members of the community are encouraged to follow all safety directions and traffic control devices within the project area. 

We understand that lane closures can be stressful, but we appreciate the community’s patience while our streets are being repaired. Motorists traveling along roads adjacent to work areas should anticipate delays and plan accordingly.
