Both of the Lumberjack Men’s and Women’s Soccer Teams Ranked in the Top Ten in this Week’s United Soccer Coaches/NCAA Division II Men and Women—West Region Poll
Both of the Humboldt men’s and women’s soccer teams are ranked in this week’s United Soccer Coaches/NCAA Division II West Region Poll. The Humboldt State women’s soccer team, under the guidance of head coach Grant Landy, has moved back into the tenth spot in this week’s rankings while the men, coached by head coach Fred Jungemann, is sixth in this week’s rankings sixth.
HSU’s women went 0-0-2 in the opening weekend of California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play. The Lumberjacks are 3-2-4 overall and 0-0-2 in the CCAA. The ‘Jacks played to a scoreless tie with Cal State San Marcos on Friday and a 1-1 tie with Cal State San Bernardino. Humboldt State has played in three straight double overtime matches and four for the season, all at College Creek Field.
The Lumberjack men went 0-1-1 in the opening weekend of conference play. The ‘Jacks are 6-1-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the CCAA. They recorded their seventh straight shutout in Friday’s scoreless tie with Cal State San Marcos on Friday. This tied the CCAA record for consecutive shutouts and is a Humboldt State record. The Lumberjacks saw their seven-match unbeaten streak and shutout streak come to an end as they lost 1-0 to Cal State San Bernardino on Friday.
Both teams will begin a three-match road trip this weekend with a pair of conference matches. They will be in Carson, Calif., this Friday, October 8 to face Cal State Dominguez Hills. The women’s match is scheduled to begin at 1:30pm with the men’s match to follow at 4pm. Sunday, HSU will be in Seaside, Calif., for matches with Cal State Monterey Bay. The men’s match will begin at 11:30am with the women’s match to follow at 2pm.
