Appointments to President’s Administrative Team

October 31, 2019

HSU President Tom Jackson has formally appointed three members of the President’s Administrative Team who were serving in interim roles.

Sherie Gordon has been appointed Chief of Staff in the President’s Office, Jason Meriwether has been appointed Vice President for Enrollment Management, and Frank Whitlatch has been appointed Vice President for University Advancement.

As members of the President’s Administrative Team, each will serve at the discretion of the President. Like other positions in the Management Personnel Plan (MPP) on campus, they are at-will employees and do not receive permanent status in their positions.

“The campus and community have gotten to know Jason and Sherie over the last few months, and they’ve gotten to know Frank over more than a decade,” said President Jackson. “These three outstanding professionals are who Humboldt State needs in the roles at this time. I am proud to have them on board and I have high expectations for each of them.”

Gordon’s role as Chief of Staff includes coordinating important campus-wide initiatives, engaging with internal and external constituents, and working on strategic initiatives and operations. In close collaboration with units across campus, she is involved with efficiently managing campus operations and maintaining a focus on top priorities including enrollment, athletics, community relations, excellence, student success, diversity and inclusion, global engagement, and funding.

As Vice President for Enrollment Management, Meriwether has broad responsibilities for the recruitment of new students and supporting the retention of current students. He leads the Enrollment Management unit (Admissions, Financial Aid, and the Registrar's Office), as well as the Office of the Dean of Students, EOP/TRiO programs, Cultural Centers for Academic Excellence, the University Health Center, and Housing.

As Vice President for University Advancement, Whitlatch oversees efforts to expand charitable support and enhance public understanding of the University. He leads the offices of Development, Marketing & Communications, and Alumni & Engagement. He also serves as Executive Director of the HSU Foundation.
