August 2, 2016

ARCATA, Calif. – One team and five individuals will be inducted into the Humboldt State Athletics Hall of Fame as the Class of 2016 on Friday, Oct. 7. The Hall of Fame event will be part of the weekend's homecoming celebration. Social hour begins at 6 p.m. in the Kate Buchanan Room.

“I would like to congratulate this year’s outstanding class of inductees,” said Athletic Director Dan Collen. “Every year we receive a number of very worthy nominees, and the decision on who to induct is difficult. But these individuals and one team set themselves apart and will be excellent additions to the Hall of Fame.”

This year's honorees include the 2001 softball team, Katie Franci (women’s basketball), Natalie Galletly (softball), Dave Banducci (football and swimming), Grayson Moyer (men’s basketball) and Dennis Pfeifer (cross country and track and field). The Class of 2016 will also be honored at halftime of the homecoming football game versus Central Washington on Saturday, Oct. 8.

Katie Franci, Women’s Basketball, 2007-09

Franci was a time-two All-American that played a key role in the Jacks’ postseason appearance during the 2008-09 season. Her 23-point, 20-rebound performance versus Western Washington helped HSU earn its first postseason victory in program history.

Natalie Galletly, Softball, 2006-09

A three-time All-American by both the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and Daktronics, Galletly appeared 21 times in the program’s record book. Galletly hit a home run, supplying the game’s only run, in the 2008 national championship game.

Dave Banducci, Football and Swimming, 1968-70

Banducci was a two-sport athlete for the Jacks and helped lead his teams in national competition. He advanced to the Swimming National Championships in 1970 and finished 10th in the 880-yard freestyle relay and 13th in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Banducci earned all-conference swimming honors in 1970 when he placed second in the 400-yard freestyle relay. He was a placekicker and quarterback for the HSU football program. Banducci ranks third in single game points scored (29), a record he held for 40 years (1969-2009). He was the only student-athlete in HSU history to participate in postseason competition in football and swimming (1968 Camellia Bowl and 1970 Swimming National Championships).

Grayson Moyer, Men’s Basketball, 2004-08

Moyer was one of HSU’s top all-time scorers and a member of the Green and Gold’s three-year NCAA postseason run (2005-06, 2006-07 and 2007-08). He ranks third all-time in career scoring (1,544 points) and fifth all-time in career field goals (460). With Moyer on the court, the Jacks captured CCAA titles in 2006-07 and 2007-08.
