Men’s Crew

Humboldt State’s men’s crew team competed at the Head of the Lagoon Regatta in Foster City on November 13th, 2021.  The men’s novice 4 boat placed second with a time of 21:48.8, while the novice 8 finished with a time of 22:41.7.  This 5K course was the team’s only regatta for the Fall season.

Associate Head Coach/Faculty Advisor Ashley Donnell summarized the weekend as “A good showing. We are a very young crew team, as far as time on the water. We are excited to see what winter training will produce and are excited to get the whole team racing in the Spring

 Men’s Rugby

Humboldt State men’s rugby was back on the field this fall after a year off.  The Lumberjacks advanced to the Western Region Championship in Vallejo, Calif., on November 13.  The ‘Jacks had a very hard-fought battle and lost in the final minute, 21-20, to New Mexico Tech.

Head Coach, Greg Pargee had this to say about his team:  "I am  very proud of these student athletes and the Team as a whole and all the challenges they overcame during a Covid season. It has been a true test of their hard work and discipline on and off the field. I am excited for the near future of HSU rugby and the competitions to come, we have a solid group of returning players who are ready to continue the success.  This year was our second consecutive Northern California League Championship, and second consecutive National Collegiate Rugby Elite 8 finish for small colleges".

 Disc Golf

The Lumberjack disc golf team placed fourth at the West Coast Collegiate Disc Golf Open, November 12-14.  Cal State Monterey Bay won the Open through an eight-hole sudden death playoff against Oregon State.  The ‘Jacks placed 12th in the B open with Chelsea Beldon capturing the female division title.

From one of the disc golfers---

“HSU had an extreme increase in skill level across all players, B-pool specifically. Four continuous days of disc golf on high level courses changed the way we all play and increased our skill levels tremendously. Looking forward to competitions on our local courses for some home-field advantage.

HSU will be inviting WCCO champions and other West Coast teams to a home course Open preliminary planned for the end of February/beginning of March 2022. This may be the last Club Disc event held on the original Curtain Course layout before construction begins.

Overall the trip was a blast and we had an amazing time. We met some awesome disc golfers and had an enjoyable time checking out championship level disc golf courses.”
