Claude AI Pilot: Limited Licenses Available for Faculty and Staff

October 26, 2026
Dear Faculty and Staff,
In June of 2026, the CSU’s system wide Generative AI Advisory Committee recommended the renewal of ChatGPT licensing for the entire community while moving toward a multi-model environment. This recommendation was made with the recognition that different tools perform better in specific use cases. Given that Anthropic’s Claude has consistently outperformed other models in specific modeling and research tasks over the past year (on benchmarking sites like LM Arena, etc.), and that many members of our community have requested Claude as an additional tool, the Chancellor’s Office has decided to conduct a pilot with a small number of Claude licenses over the next 12 months.

Cal Poly Humboldt has been allocated 78 licenses prioritizing distribution to faculty conducting intensive research and staff conducting advanced data and financial modeling. The licenses will be distributed in a first come first served basis. Please complete this form if interested.

Participants should expect to receive three short surveys (3, 6, and 9 months) from the Chancellor's Office. Please feel free to contact the CTL at ctl@humboldt.edu with any questions. You will also find a FAQ document for reference attached.
