Invitation to Participate: New CSU Professional Learning Series Begins October 16

October 15, 2026

The CSU Chancellor's Office is pleased to announce a new professional development opportunity designed to support faculty, staff, and administrators in fostering welcoming, supportive, and thriving learning environments across our campuses.

The CSU Division of Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Success is launching a new systemwide professional learning initiative to help translate shared commitments to student success into meaningful practices and experiences throughout the University.

The first offering, Free Expression, Campus Climate, and Student Success, is a five-part professional learning series beginning this Friday, October 16, 2026. The series will provide practical knowledge and strategies for protecting free expression and academic freedom, fostering belonging and educational access, understanding institutional responsibilities, and responding effectively to bias and prejudice.

The five-part series will explore the following topics:

  1. Free Expression, Academic Freedom, and the Public University's Mission

  2. Student Voices, Belonging, and Educational Access

  3. Civil Rights, Title VI, and Institutional Responsibilities

  4. Fostering Thriving Learning Environments

  5. Coordinating Institutional Responses

Faculty, staff, and administrators are invited to register for individual workshops based on their interests, roles, and availability, or participate in the full five-part series. Participants who complete all five workshops will receive a certificate of completion.

This series provides an opportunity to engage with colleagues from across the CSU, deepen understanding of these important issues, and bring new perspectives and practices back to the Humboldt community.

Registration and Additional Information: Free Expression, Campus Climate, and Student Success
