Dear Cal Poly Humboldt Community,

The University is beginning an important transition to the Common Human Resources System (CHRS), a California State University initiative that will bring CSU campuses together on a common Human Resources platform with more consistent processes and data. CHRS is designed to modernize how employees interact with Human Resources systems while supporting more efficient HR operations, improved reporting, and greater consistency across the CSU.

For most employees, CHRS will eventually mean a new look and feel when completing familiar employment-related tasks. Depending on your role, this may include changes to employee self-service, time and absence management, benefits, personal information, temporary academic employment, recruiting, and other HR processes. Employees will have expanded self-service capabilities for many tasks, and managers and administrative users will also see changes to some workflows and approvals. More information about specific impacts will be shared as we move through implementation. 

This is a significant campus project involving Human Resources, Academic Personnel Services, Information Technology, and employees from across the University. Our implementation teams will work with the CSU Chancellor's Office throughout the project to prepare the system, review business processes, test functionality, identify campus impacts, and prepare employees for the transition. Successful CHRS implementation depends not only on technology, but also on communication, engagement, training, and our collective readiness to adopt new processes. The CSU's implementation framework specifically identifies effective campus communication, stakeholder participation, and timely training as key elements of a successful transition.

You do not need to take any action at this time. As implementation progresses, we will provide regular updates about what is changing, when changes will occur, and what employees need to do to prepare. Training, job aids, videos, and other resources will also be available before employees are expected to use CHRS. The CSU's CHRS Knowledge Base already provides searchable job aids and video tutorials for employees, faculty, managers, and administrative users.
