Campus Update: Transition from OBI to Data Warehouse for Financial Data

May 29, 2026

Hello Colleagues,

As we continue our transition from Oracle Business Intelligence (OBI) to the Chancellor’s Office-supported Finance Data Warehouse (DW), we want to thank the campus community for its ongoing engagement and collaboration throughout this important effort. The Enterprise Data Transformation (EDT) Project continues to advance our shared goal of modernizing data architecture and strengthening data-informed decision-making across the university.

The campus-wide DW Transition Task Force remains actively engaged in guiding this transition for stateside finance data users.

Progress Since Our Last Update

Over the past several months, the project team and task force have:

  • Continued refining report requirements, validation, and data mapping
  • Expanded Financial Reporting and Labor Cost Dashboard training opportunities
  • Hosted in-person training sessions during the Spring semester led by campus super users and functional experts
  • Added Chancellor’s Office recorded training sessions to the DW transition resource webpage for on-demand access
  • Continued supporting campus units as they integrate the DW into daily operations
  • Gathered and incorporated campus feedback to improve training materials and support resources

Important Upcoming Changes

As part of the transition timeline, we will begin decommissioning existing financial reports in OBI as early as August 2026. Additional communication, timelines, and guidance will be shared in advance to help campus users prepare for this change.

We strongly encourage all users who rely on OBI financial reporting to continue participating in training opportunities and begin transitioning regular reporting activities to the DW environment.

Stay Engaged

We encourage you to remain involved throughout the transition process:

  • Visit the resource webpage for guides, recorded trainings, and support materials
  • Join campus wide-in-person training/drop-in sessions to be held in August - watch for more information on that by checking the resource webpage.
  • Attend an upcoming Drop-In Training Session to ask questions and share feedback

Drop-In Training Sessions, link can be found here
Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month
10:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Thank you to the members of the DW Transition Task Force for their continued leadership and to all campus colleagues for your partnership and flexibility as we move toward a more modern and sustainable reporting environment.

Note: These updates pertain only to the HMCMP, HMADV, and HMASB business units. The HMSPF transition remains slated for completion by March 2028.
