Get ready to celebrate, learn, and take action! The Associated Students Committee on Environmental Affairs is excited to announce that the full lineup of Earth Week events and activities is now live — and it’s packed with opportunities to connect, create, and make a difference.

What’s Happening?

From hands-on workshops and live performances to film screenings, outdoor adventures, and free food — there’s something for everyone. The full list of activities includes:


Before Earth Week

  • Junk Journaling, Thu 4/16, 4–6pm, Library Makerspace. Create art from repurposed materials; supplies provided.
  • Cannabis and Environmental Stewardship Symposium, Fri 4/17, 10am–5pm (doors 9am), Native American Forum. Panels, networking, and discussions on sustainable cannabis; includes meals, registration recommended.

All Week (Apr 20–25)

  • Carpool Parking Promotion (Apr 20–May 1), Weekdays 7–11am, G11 Lot. Carpool to receive priority parking.
  • Upcycled Art Gallery (Apr 20–23), Green and Gold Room. Student art made from reused materials.
  • Dance Visions Spring Concert (Apr 23–26), John Van Duzer Theatre. Student dance performances.

Monday (4/20)

  • Coffee for Commuters, 7:45–10:30am, G11 Lot and Balbanis Lawn. Free coffee, breakfast bites, and sustainable commuting info.
  • Weigh the Waste, 6–8pm, J Dining Hall. Interactive activities related to reducing food waste.

Tuesday (4/21)

  • Campus Swap Meet, 1–3pm, Quad. Swap or donate clothes and goods.
  • Plant Bingo, 2pm, Library. Bingo with plant-themed prizes.
  • Film screening: Climate Control, 5–6pm, Library. Short film and Q&A on climate and AI.
  • Sustainability Trivia Night, 6–7:30pm, Jolly Giant Commons. Trivia, prizes, pizza, and refreshments.

Wednesday (4/22, Earth Day)

  • Ecotopia, 12–2pm, Quad. Tabling, free food, surprise dance performance and student groups.
  • Food Sovereignty Film Screenings, 1–2pm, Nelson Hall East. Short films about food relatives and Q&A on Indigenous food systems.
  • What’s in Our Waste?, 2–4pm, Cypress Lawn. Hands-on waste audit and sorting activity.
  • Group Bike Ride, 4–5:30pm, HHM Bike Shed. All-level ride along Humboldt Bay Trail.
  • Local Farmers Panel, 4–5pm, Library. Discussion on local food systems.
  • Basket Weaving Workshop, 5:30–7:30pm, Harry Griffith Hall. Weaving with natural and invasive materials.

Thursday (4/23)

  • Community Forest Hike, 11am–12pm, Arcata Community Forest. Guided nature walk.
  • Meditation and Earth Circle, 12–1pm, Near Upper Field. Guided grounding and reflection.
  • Pollinator Walking Tour, 3:30–5pm, Starts at CCAT. Learn about pollinators and native plants.
  • Film screening: Sequoias of the Sea, 6:30–8:30pm, Arcata Theatre Lounge. Documentary and discussion on kelp forests.

Friday (4/24)

  • Earth Week D & D Games, 11am–3pm, Great Hall (RSVP required). Sustainability-themed tabletop game.
  • CCAT Volunteer Day, 10am–4pm, CCAT. Hands-on sustainability projects.
  • CCAT Library Reopening, 1–4pm, CCAT. Sustainability books and resources.
  • Tree Walking Tour (Arbor Day), 2–3pm, SAC Quad. Learn about campus trees.
  • Sustainability Mixer, 4–6pm, Septentrio Winery. Networking event with one free drink ticket for all campus members plus selected community orgs. 

Saturday (4/25)

  • CCAT Spring Celebration, 12–5pm, CCAT. Workshops, music, and community activities.
  • Women’s Resource Center: Environmental Justice Conference, 9am–5pm, Multiple locations. Focus on Indigenous knowledge and environmental justice.
