12th Annual Authors Celebration - February 13, 2026

January 14, 2026

The Cal Poly Humboldt Library and the Office of the Provost are delighted to host the 12th Annual Cal Poly Humboldt Authors Celebration, honoring the remarkable scholarly and creative works recently published by Cal Poly Humboldt authors. Join us in the Authors Hall Friday, February 13, 2026, from 3pm - 4pm as we celebrate the achievements of alumni, emeriti, faculty, staff, student authors and readers. We will also enjoy cake, sparkling cider, and trivia. All authors are welcome to share about their works during the social hour and open mic following the event.

This year we’re keeping the celebration going on Monday with two more great author events!

Monday, February 16

12pm Authors Celebration: Betty Chinn Showcase

Authors Hall, Library 2nd floor

As a child during the Chinese Cultural Revolution, she was separated from her family, imprisoned, and ruthlessly tortured. As an immigrant to the United States, she worked tirelessly to shelter and feed thousands in her community. How she survived monstrous conditions, challenged impossible odds, and became a beacon of hope for those most vulnerable has now been newly documented in the second edition of The Gray Bird Sings: The Extraordinary Life of Betty Kwan Chinn. Come meet Betty Kwan Chinn. Co-sponsored by the Library and the Office of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

3pm Authors Celebration: Jerry Rohde

Authors Hall, Library 2nd floor

Author Jerry Rohde and drone videographer Erin Scofield believe that videos are the future for local history. They will show how text and videos will be combined in their forthcoming book, Northern Humboldt Hinterlands, to be published by The Press at Cal Poly Humboldt. Come see local history in an all new way and how you can do it, too.

Are you a 2025 Cal Poly Humboldt author?

We want to celebrate you! Faculty, staff, students, and alumni are invited to share their publications by completing the Authors Recognition Form

The Cal Poly Humboldt Authors Hall is a growing collection of books, CDs, and DVDs of scholarship and creative work from Cal Poly Humboldt faculty, emeriti faculty, staff, student and alumni authors. The goals of the Cal Poly Humboldt Authors Hall are to celebrate Cal Poly Humboldt authors, share the value of their scholarly and creative works with the University and wider community, and to promote authorship and scholarly communications.

We look forward to seeing you at these events and celebrating the incredible work you share with our community. It is our honor to house your creative and scholarly works in the Cal Poly Humboldt Authors Hall.
