Men’s Soccer Moves Up to One Spot in This Week’s United Soccer Coaches/NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer West Region Rankings
After going 2-0 this past weekend in Hayward, Calif., the Humboldt State Lumberjack men’s soccer team moved up one spot to number four in this week’s United Soccer Coaches/NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer West Region Rankings. Holding the top five spots in this week’s rankings are Azusa Pacific, Seattle Pacific, Simon Fraser, Humboldt State and Biola.
The Lumberjacks extended their winning streak to four as they once again recorded back to back shutouts this past weekend. HSU started its weekend with a 4-0 win over Hawai’i Pacific on Friday evening. The ‘Jacks finished the weekend with a 3-0 shutout over Holy Names University on Sunday afternoon. in that match, Adrian Gallardo recorded two saves en route to his fourth straight shutout in goal for the Lumberjacks. This season, Gallardo has posted a 0.00 goals against average with 11 saves and a 1.000 saves percentage.
Marco Silveira leads the ‘Jacks with his six assists and 12 points. The senior forward is tied for the team lead with Alejandro Lopez each with three goals. Lopez has team leading two game-winning goals with Dylan Tovani and Silveira recording the other game-winning goals for HSU. Also scoring goals for Humboldt State are the following ‘Jacks: Tovani (2) and one apiece from Daniel Adeyeye, Nicolas Herrera Land, Edgar Castaneda, Devin Hauenstein and Yushi Kato. Other Lumberjacks with at least one assist are Adeyeye (3), Herrera Land (2) and with one apiece Lopez, Castaneda, Hauenstein, Gallardo and Gou Nitta.
The four consecutive shutouts by the ‘Jacks this season is the first time that this has happed in program history since 1989.

Humboldt State will have its home opener this Friday, September 17 at 3pm when the ‘Jacks host Simpson University at College Creek Field.
