June 4, 2019

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to announce that Dr. Simone Aloisio, Interim Associate Dean for the School of Arts and Sciences at the California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI), is HSU's new Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs. Dr. Aloisio's appointment is effective August 15, 2019.

Currently, Dr. Aloisio holds academic rank as Professor in the Department of Chemistry at CSUCI and served as department Chair (for twelve years ) prior to his appointment as the interim Associate Dean for the School of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Aloisio joined the faculty of CSUCI in January of 2003—the first academic year for CSUCI—and subsequently became one of two founding faculty members in the Department of Chemistry. Dr. Aloisio represented the CSUCI faculty in the system-wide CSU Academic Senate (ASCSU) for seven years, including service as Secretary of that body.

Dr. Aloisio is a first-generation college graduate and earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Purdue University and a B.S. in Chemistry from Bradley University. Dr. Aloisio held post-doctoral positions at the University of Colorado and Kyoto University prior to joining CSUCI. Dr. Aloisio looks forward to working with the dedicated faculty and staff at HSU and becoming an active member of our local community. Dr. Aloisio enjoys the outdoors and is eager to explore the natural beauty of Humboldt County.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Aloisio to HSU.

Sincerely,

Dr. Alex Enyedi
