Online Privacy and Shared Computers
Not all applications work the same way when you log in and out of them, so if you share a computer or other device with another person, you may find yourself in their account on an application accidentally. This can happen if that other person has saved their password in the browser, which can then enable automatic login by anyone using that device. There are two ways to prevent this from happening:
- Never save your password in the browser; use a password manager like KeePassX (Windows/Mac) or 1Password (Mac) instead
- Switch to incognito browsing when you use a shared device, so your browsing history is not saved.
If you do find yourself viewing someone else’s information in error, please preserve the security of that information by logging out immediately, both from the application itself and the browser.
