I am pleased to announce Mr. Loren Collins as the permanent Director of Academic Advising at Cal Poly Humboldt, following an internal search. Loren received a BA in History and an MA in Sociology from Humboldt State University and has many years of experience working with students and faculty in career advising, internship placement, and service learning. Over the last year, he has been serving as the interim Director of Academic and Career Advising and has been pivotal in hiring new advisors, shifting culture to a holistic student-centered advising model, and working closely with faculty, campus centers, staff, and Deans to make sure students are receiving the best support and information they need to be successful at Cal Poly Humboldt. In addition, he has been resourceful and dedicated to inclusive practices and always centers students in everything he does.
