NSF I-Corps Hub Desert and Pacific Region; Fall 2026 I-Corps SDSU Course

About: Ready to take your research or startup to the next level? This fall, San Diego State University (SDSU) will host a free I-Corps course through the National Science Foundation I-Corps Hub Desert and Pacific Region. The course provides access to the tools, mentors, and resources needed to move research-based innovations beyond academia and into the real world.

Participants will explore how technologies and innovations, including computer applications in disciplines ranging from the arts to zoology, can be developed into high-impact commercial products and applications. Teams of two to three participants are recommended, although individuals may apply. Applicants do not need to identify an industry mentor before applying.

All core team members must be available for the following sessions:

• Friday, September 25: In-person kickoff at SDSU, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

• Friday, October 2: Virtual check-in, 2:00–3:30 p.m.

• Friday, October 9: Virtual check-in, 2:00–3:30 p.m.

• Friday, October 16: Virtual check-in, 2:00–3:30 p.m.

• Friday, October 23: Final in-person session at SDSU, 8:30 a.m.–noon

Note: Transportation and two nights of lodging are available for participants traveling from locations north of Orange County.

Principal investigators who complete I-Corps are two to three times more likely to secure funding through standard NSF research grants, Small Business Innovation Research awards, and other grant programs. Participants may also qualify for up to $45,000 from the SDSU Pilot Innovation Fund if they partner with an SDSU faculty member.
