NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) Virtual Workshop

Humboldt State University Sponsored Programs Foundation is excited to host this National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) Virtual Workshop. The purpose of the NSF GRFP is to recognize and support outstanding graduate students who are pursuing full-time research-based master's and doctoral degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) or in STEM education. 

The GRFP provides three years of support over a five-year fellowship period for the graduate education of individuals who have demonstrated their potential for significant research achievements in STEM or STEM education. NSF actively encourages women, persons who are members of groups historically underrepresented in STEM, persons with disabilities, veterans, and undergraduate seniors to apply.  

 

Schedule of Workshops

Part 1: Introduction to GRFP - with Live Q&A 

2:00 pm- 2:45 pm

Speakers: Christopher L. Hill, Ph.D and Narcrisha S. Norman PhD, DGE Program Directors,  National Science Foundation

The first half of this workshop will introduce the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP). It will provide an overview of the program and the competitive proposal process. Examples will be included for what the program officers look for in a successful proposal.

 

Part 2: Experience with GRFP- with past fellows

3:00 pm -4:00 pm

Speakers: Alex Bippus, Brittney Mitchell, Delfina Navarro-Estrada, and Keith Parker, past GRFP Fellows

The second half of this workshop will provide detailed information about the do’s and don’ts from past recipients of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP). They will give their insight and advice to students who are interested in applying for the GRFP.
