National School Psychology Awareness Week November 11-15, 2013
Arcata, CA—The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) has designated Nov. 11-15, 2013 as National School Psychology Awareness Week (SPAW), to highlight the role of school psychologists in promoting student success. This year’s theme, “We Are All In! Teams Work!” focuses on helping students and colleagues recognize, employ and enhance team-related skills. The City of Arcata is set to proclaim recognition of SPAW at the City Council meeting the week prior on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
The School Psychology Club at Humboldt State University will sponsor local activities throughout the week, including an interactive advocacy booth in the University Center quad and class presentations by HSU School Psychology graduate students at the University, local high schools, and at College of the Redwoods. Visitors to the advocacy booth will be able to contact state and local representatives to voice support for government action and legislation on related issues.
