Learning Center New Services for AY 2022-23
The Learning Center is excited to support Cal Poly Humboldt students as we launch into our first full year as a polytechnic. There are a number of new services--in addition to those you have come to expect--that we want to share with you:
New @ the Learning Center
Online Learning Strategies Video Workshops through Student Lingo
Expanded learning tools on our digital resources webpage
After-hours online tutoring for math, statistics, writing, and logic through NetTutor.
New Supplemental Instruction sessions for Psych Stats (Psyc 109)
New tutor scheduling software for students to easily search for tutors and make appointments online
New point person for tutoring coordination: Michele Miyamoto is now coordinating tutoring, peer coaching, and referrals
Academic Support Services
Supplemental Instruction - for most intro science courses, logic, and psych stats
Tutoring - drop-in Science & Math Labs; General Tutoring for other disciplines
Writing Consultations - for any discipline; online, in person, and through email
Academic Peer Coaching - support for time management and learning study strategies
SkillShops - in-person workshops on college success strategies; asynchronous workshop on writing with sources and avoiding plagiarism
Referrals - use the referral link on our home page to connect students with the Learning Center
Responsive Support
We continue to provide students with in-person and online options. Students can request online tutoring if they want to meet outside our regular online hours, and we’re ready to pivot services if necessary.
