"I Wanna Like Jazz, But I'm Not Sure How"
In honor of Professor Dan Aldag’s 2012/13 Excellence in Teaching Award (Lecturer), HSU will host a free presentation and small, informal reception at the Van Duzer Theatre on Wednesday, December 4th at 5:00PM. This event is open to all faculty, staff, students, and the community.
A lecturer in the music department, Professor Aldag is recognized for exceptional work with jazz ensembles, consistently high teaching scores and high standards. He has served HSU for nearly two decades and in the past five years has taught 26 different courses, ranging from large lecture general education to small activity courses.
His presentation is titled "I Wanna Like Jazz, But I'm Not Sure How."
Jazz is often called "America's only original art form" and jazz musicians are frequently held up in our culture as paragons of cool, but the music itself can sometimes seem inscrutable and esoteric to the uninitiated. Join Professor Dan Aldag as he demystifies jazz, with demonstrations and live music from one of HSU's Jazz Combos.
