FYI: Notification of Sexual Violence Prevention Course Assignment

July 1, 2026

Hello Everyone,

This is an annual reminder regarding the required sexual violence prevention course that is assigned to our students. Due to the nature of the work that your division does, you may get questions from students regarding the assignment.

Students will receive an email notification the day they become a “student” at Cal Poly Humboldt that they need to complete this assigned course; this will typically coincide with registration for classes. In the assignment email, they will be given some background on what topics will be covered in the course, along with a link that will take them to the assigned activity within CSU Learn.

Our office has transitioned from using our previous platform to CSU Learn. The course is now titled, “Title XI and You, Building a Culture of Care”. We hope this offers a better learning experience for our students.

While the platform and content are different, your role in supporting students and connecting them with support resources remains the same. Here is some additional information that you may find helpful and can share with students who have questions:

  • The Campus Advocate Team is available 24/7, is free and fully confidential as an additional resource for those going through the course (and in general). Their number is (707) 445-2881.
  • The course will take approximately 40 minutes to complete.
  • They will have 30 days to complete the course. Reminder emails will be sent automatically until they complete the course.
  • If a student is struggling to meet the due date, please encourage them to reach out to us for logistical support and we will do what we can to assist. (They do not need to share any specifics on their situation.)
  • Again, this course will be assigned and needs to be completed each year
  • Questions or issues with the course can be sent to titleix@humboldt.edu.

Thank you all for the amazing work you do to support students!

***If you would like to learn more about your duty to report from a survivor-centered lens or how to be involved in addressing sexualized violence on campus, reach out to the Sexual Assault Prevention Committee (SAPC) to learn more. You can contact the chair at maxwell.schnurer@humboldt.edu.
