Forum on Changes at STEM Center, Oct. 16

November 5, 2014

You are invited to a faculty forum from 2 to 2:55 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 16, to share thoughts about the recent departure of the director of the University’s STEM Center for Academic Excellence. Please feel free to invite other faculty and staff in your area who may be interested.

The forum will be held in the Wildlife and Fisheries Building, Room #258. HSU President Lisa Rossbacher and other campus leaders will be participating.

The focus will be how to best support students who have been affected by last week’s departure of the director of the STEM Center. The Thursday forum is intended as a time to come together as a community to share perspectives and concerns regarding the future direction of the STEM Center.

There will also be a forum for students at 11:50 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. the same day, Oct. 16, in the Great Hall of College Creek Apartments. Please consider sharing information about that meeting with your students.

The STEM Center for Academic Excellence supports underrepresented students majoring in science, technology, engineering, and math fields. It includes a number of programs, including INRSEP, which is focused on Native students. HSU is committed to continuing and strengthening this program. An interim director of the STEM Center will soon be appointed and there will be a national search for a permanent director. Students will be included in the search process for that position.

Sincerely,

Jenny Zorn
Provost
