Conservation Innovation Grants California State Program (FY) 2021

• Purpose: To stimulate the development and adoption of innovative conservation approaches and technologies in conjunction with agricultural production.  
• Administering Agency: Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) 
• Total Funding Available: $1,000,000, 7 awards are anticipated 
• Funding Request:
• $150,000, projects may be between 1 and 3 years in duration and have an estimated start date of June 22, 2021.
• Eligible Organizations: All U.S. based, non-Federal entities and individuals are eligible to apply
• Cost-Share: At least 50% of total project costs
• Eligible Project Types: Projects or activities must include development of field testing, on-farm research and demonstration, evaluation, or implementation of:
• Approaches to incentivizing conservation adoption, including market-based and conservation finance approaches; and
• Conservation technologies, practices, and systems. For FY2021, projects must address one or more of the following priorities:
• Improve plant and forest health/productivity;
• Improve air quality associated with agricultural operations;
• Work with agriculture operations to protect surface and groundwater quality
• Improve soil health; and
• Enhance habitat for terrestrial and aquatic species
