NEA Research Labs, FY 2022

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)

Notice seeking proposals for research labs of transdisciplinary research teams grounded in the social and behavioral sciences, yielding empirical insights about the arts for the benefit of arts and non-arts sectors alike.

​Applications are due March 29, 2021. Grants feature cost-sharing for up to $150,000.

​Notice seeking proposals for research grants that investigate the value and/or impact of the arts, either as individual components of the U.S. arts ecology or as they interact with each other and/or with other domains of American life.

​Applications are due March 29, 2021. Matching funds of up to $100,000 are available for this award.

Clara Mayo Grants for Research on Sexism, Racism, or Prejudice

Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues

Deadline: 5/15/2021, 10/15/2021

Description: Supports master's theses or pre-dissertation research on aspects of sexism, racism, or prejudice, with preference given to students enrolled in a terminal master’s program. Studies of the application of theory or the design of interventions or treatments to address these problems are welcome. Up to six awards of $1,000 each are made per cycle. Proposals that include a college or university agreement to match the amount requested are favored. Applicants must be SPSSI members who have matriculated in relevant graduate programs. Limited submission: applicants may submit only one application per calendar year, and may not apply to the Grants-In-Aid in that year. Annual deadlines: 5/15, 10/15. Research and Conference Grants

Spencer Foundation

Deadline: 5/6/2021, 7/1/2021, 10/1/2021, 1/15/2021

Description: Program relies on researchers to determine the most important issues to pursue. Supports Lyle Spencer Research Awards (TBD) up to $1 million for intellectually ambitious research, oriented ultimately to improving the practice of education, and independent of any particular reform agendas or methodological strictures. Conference Grants (5/6) up to $50,000 provide support to scholars for small research conferences and focused symposia. Large (1/15 LOI) and Small (3/1, 6/1, 10/1) Research Grants cover any topic that falls within Spencer’s mission. Time sensitive COVID-19 funding and other funding may be available (TBD). Research and Scholar Programs

Russell Sage Foundation

Deadline: 5/4/2021, 8/5/2020, 11/11/2020 (check for 2021 deadlines)

Description: Supports research in the social sciences. Presidential Awards of up to $35,000 and Project Awards from $35,000 to $175,000 support basic social science research to improve social policies. Program areas include: 1) Inequality; 2) Future of Work; 3) Decision Making; and 4) Behavioral Economics. Annual deadlines (for required LOIs) 5/4/21 (areas 1-4; coronavirus focused); 8/5/20 (areas 1-4; and Immigration and Integration) and 11/11/20 (areas 1-3). Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad Program

Department of Education (Education) , Office of Postsecondary Education (OPE)

​Notice seeking applications to promote, improve, and develop the study of modern foreign languages and area studies in the United States. The program provides opportunities for faculty, teachers, and undergraduate and graduate students to conduct individual and group projects overseas. Projects may include either (1) short-term seminars, curriculum development, group research or study, or (2) long-term advanced intensive language programs.

​Applications are due March 15, 2021. Approximately 10 short-term project awards of up to $100,000 each and approximately 15 long-term project awards of up to $250,000 each are available to support projects lasting up to 18 or 24 months, respectively.
