Faculty Book Circle - Fresh Banana Leaves

September 27, 2022

Hello,

Join a fourth decolonial book circle for Fall 2022 with the Native American Studies Department and the Sustainability Office!

This fall we will be reading Fresh Banana Leaves: Healing Indigenous Landscapes Through Indigenous Science by Dr. Jessica Hernandez.

As with previous book circles, this one is an opportunity for faculty at HSU to remain at the cutting edge of sustainability, social justice, and community environmental research. All disciplines are invited to creatively engage with this challenge.

The Fresh Banana Leaves discussion schedule is composed of 5 group discussion sessions held from 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. on Monday mornings (beginning 10/03/2022). Dr. Jessica Hernandez will join us for a discussion on October 17, from 1-2pm, and provide an author book talk to the campus community from 4:30-6pm.

Participants do not have to buy the book, it will be provided! The text can also be found through the Library here. Faculty will be asked to give their informed consent for participating as research subjects in summary findings from the book circle so that coordinators may produce and widely share lessons learned through University landscapes and Tribal nations.

Space is limited, so please register at  https://tinyurl.com/freshbananaleaves
