CSUPERB’s Virtual Campus Visit

Overview: The California State University Program for Education and Research in Biotechnology (CSUPERB) provides seed grant funding to CSU faculty and students, organizes an annual biotechnology symposium, supports biotechnology-relevant curriculum redesign efforts, and serves as a liaison for the CSU with government, philanthropic, educational, and biotechnology industry partners. The program involves students and faculty from Life, Physical, Computer and Clinical Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Math and Business departments at all 23 CSU campuses.

CSUPERB 101 - Pre-Recorded Webinar with Live Q&A
10:00am-11:30am
Speakers: Bianca R. Mothé, PhD, Interim Executive Director, CSUPERB
This session will introduce CSUPERB. It will provide an overview of the affinity group, including history, organizational structure. Information will be included for how faculty and students can get involved, including grant and awards information as well the describe the CSUPERB annual symposium.
Faculty Opportunities Session
12:00pm -1:30pm
Speakers: Bianca R. Mothé, PhD, Interim Executive Director, CSUPERB along with prior HSU-CSUPERB award recipients
This session will provide detailed information into the upcoming grant deadlines and specific information about each Request for Application (RFA). Faculty can bring ideas for grant submissions and get any questions answered. Previous Humboldt CSUPERB awardees and CSUPERB staff will be ready to support faculty in their application development process.
Student Opportunities Session
2:00pm -2:45pm
Speakers: Bianca R. Mothé, PhD, Interim Executive Director, CSUPERB along with prior HSU-CSUPERB award recipients
This session will provide detailed information into the upcoming grant deadlines and specific information for faculty and students preparing applications for student-specific Request for Applications (RFA). Faculty and students can get any questions answered. Previous Humboldt CSUPERB awardees and CSUPERB staff will be ready to support students in their application process.
(CSU) I-Corps Overview

Speakers: Stanley Maloy, PhD, Principal Investigator, CSU I-Corps and Christine Montgomery, MS, CSU I-Corps
CSU I-Corps is a program of the CSUPERB and San Diego State University. Funded by a 3-year grant from the National Science Foundation’s Innovation Corps Site program, the CSU I-Corps supports entrepreneurship education, networking opportunities, and mentoring for faculty and student researchers at the 23 CSU campuses. NSF describes I-Corps “a set of activities and programs that prepares scientists and engineers to extend their focus beyond the laboratory and broadens the impact of…basic-research projects.”
