Course Design Institute: Call for Participation

The Course Design Institute supports instructors in re-imagining teaching and students’ learning through measurable actions. Selected participants will join colleagues from multiple disciplines to engage in transformative course design. Specifically, you will work to transform a course or dimension of a course. 

The CTL has invited currently teaching faculty, lecturers, and staff to participate in the Course Desigin Institute, which has been designed to provide participants with cutting-edge knowledge and skills in developing engaging, effective, and equitable courses.

  • Grant-funded: Professional development funds awarded per educator

  • Hands-on assistance and consultation in the process of developing or revising a course, including
    focusing on course content, developing assessments, and creating effective learning experiences

Institute Dates

Fall 2019: Part I - Re-Imagine a Learning Experience
  • October 21, 2019: CDI materials available in Canvas for review
  • October 28, 2019: Working Session - 9a-1:30p (Scholar's Lab, Library 3rd Floor)
  • Connect with a CTL instructional designer to develop/refine an action plan
  • November 18, 2019: Share your design/redesign action plan with CDI colleagues - 9a-11a (Scholar's Lab, Library 3rd Floor)
Spring 2020: Part II - Create Your Learning Experience with Connections to QLT
  • Janaury 15, 2020: CDI materials available in Canvas for review
  • February 17, 2020: Working Session -  9a-11a (Library Fishbowl - LIB 209)
  • Connect with a CTL instructional designer to implement your action plan and develop a poster presentation
  • May 1, 2020: Share your incredible work at the 2nd Annual Teaching Excellence Symposium
