Call for Abstracts for the CSU Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs) Showcase

Cal Poly Humboldt Sponsored Programs Foundation is pleased to announce CSUPERB’s Call for Abstracts for the CSU CUREs Showcase plenary session to be held at the in-person 2023 CSUPERB Symposium! 

 

FACULTY TALKS:

CSUPERB invites the submission of abstracts to present a 10-minute faculty talk at the CSU CUREs Showcase Plenary Session within the 2023 CSUPERB Symposium at the Santa Clara Marriott, January 13-14, 2023. The abstract submission deadline is Monday, Oct. 17th, 2022, 5:00 pm.

  • Submitter must be a CSU faculty member (tenured, tenure-track, part-time or lecturer) 

  • The talk must be on CURE content from a STEM course they have taught in the CSU system 

  • The course must be broadly related to biotechnology 

  • CURE content can be anything from a single CURE module in a gateway course up to a full CURE capstone course 

  • Submissions from a diversity of courses, faculty and settings are encouraged

  • Abstract titles should be descriptive and are limited to 150 characters. 

  • Abstracts are limited to 2500 characters, including spaces.

Selection Criteria: Abstracts must describe novel CURE approaches, CURE course content and/or outcomes of delivery of CURE content. Abstracts should be readable and present ideas with clarity.

If an abstract is not selected for a talk, it will automatically be added to the pool of abstracts being considered to present CURE posters at the plenary session.

POSTERS:

CSUPERB invites the submission of abstracts for posters by CSU faculty and students to showcase Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs) at the upcoming 2023 CSUPERB Symposium at the Santa Clara Marriott, Santa Clara, CA, January 13-14, 2023.

  • Submitter must be a CSU faculty member (tenured, tenure-track, part-time or lecturer)

  • The poster must be on CURE content and/or CURE scientific results from a STEM course taught in the CSU system

  • The course must be broadly related to biotechnology

  • CURE content can be anything from a single CURE module in a gateway course up to a full CURE capstone course.  

  • The inclusion of student authors on the abstracts is strongly encouraged! (…but at least one presenting author & the submitter must be a faculty member)

  • Student research results from CURE courses are also encouraged.  

  • Submissions from a diversity of courses, faculty and settings are encouraged.

  • Abstract titles should be descriptive and are limited to 150 characters.

  • Abstracts are limited to 2500 characters, including spaces.

Since travel funding for student authors is limited, any student author contributions need to be significant, and the students’ roles must be articulated clearly.
