Remember today’s Staff & Faculty BBQ at the Events Field today at 4pm. Families are invited! Scroll to the bottom to see upcoming events. The college has created a college-specific events calendar (http://bit.ly/CAHSSEvents) for our college events. Lectures, book readings, performances, campus holidays, some campus-wide events and student presentations are eligible to be included. To submit your events in these announcements, newsletters or calendar, email cahss@humboldt.edu and note where to include the event and contact information.

 

Travel Call for 2014-2015—Sept 19

                                                      

Our deadline to fill out the online form for all your travel in 14-15 will be September 19 (if you travel before Oct 15, email cahsstravel@humboldt.edu to get the paperwork started NOW). Faculty are eligible to apply, and students who will be presenting at conferences can also apply to receive travel funding. Note that students do not receive notification, so it is up to you to inform students of this opportunity. Apply at http://bit.ly/cahsstravel.

 

Undergraduate Research & Creative Activities Fellowships—Sept 15

 

The Undergraduate Research & Creative Activities funding is due Sept 15. Apply at http://bit.ly/1oYCmTk. Undergraduates can apply to receive a stipend for working with faculty members. (Remember that you will need student ID numbers to apply for this fellowship.) Note that students do not receive this notification, so it is up to you to inform students of this opportunity.

 

Welcome Home to Humboldt Block Party—Sept 4

 

The block party will start at 4pm on the Events Field with catering by Uniquely Yours Catering and entertaining by Birds of Chicago. Bring your own blanket for sitting on the lawn! This is a free event for all campus. Let your students know!

 

College Social—Sept 11 at 5ish

                   

Our first social will be at Robert Goodman Winery (937 I St, Arcata—but use the entrance on 10th St!  http://robertgoodmanwines.com/) on Thursday, September 11 around 5pm. We provide the hor d’oeuvres, you provide the social!

 

Student Affairs Incident Reporting Link on CAHSS Website

                   

CAHSS has incorporated the difficult-to-find reporting link from the Student Affairs website. After complains about the difficulty in finding it, we have put it in the top right of the CAHSS main page.

 

Free Women’s Self-Defense Class—Sept 21

Center for Service Learning & Academic Internships Drop-In Q&A Sessions

                   

The Center for Service Learning & Academic Internships has the following dates for drop in questions in NHE 119 (their office is in Gist 122):

 

Fri, Sept 5 9-10

Wed, Sept 10 1-2

Mon, Oct 13  3-4

Tues, Oct 21  10-11

 If you can’t make any of the above times, Stacy Becker is available any time to answer your questions and offer support individually, by phone, email or appointment.  Also, the newly revamped website has guidelines, risk management information and forms links for faculty teaching Service Learning or Academic Internship courses, along with information on our upcoming events:

  • Wed. 9/3, 10am-2pm the Volunteer Fair will take place on the Quad—please come check out both community agency and HSU program opportunities for HSU students to get involved and volunteer!
  • HSU Annual Day of Caring - Saturday, September 20th, 9am-noon – our interns will be tabling on the Quad 8/25 – 9/17 10am-2pm recruiting HSU students for this half day of service at community organizations.

RTP Letters for Chris Salvano, CAHSS Library

                   

To assist the Library Faculty Personnel Committee in a performance review of Chris Salvano, CAHSS Librarian, the Library would appreciate faculty in the college send evaluative letters to the Library Faculty Personnel Committee.  We are primarily interested in your faculty’s input on his effectiveness in Librarianship, but any input would be appreciated.  We need to receive letters before September 3rd, when his file closes. Letters may be sent to the Library Faculty Personnel Committee at the Library, by fax at x3441 or via email to Jeremy.shellhase@humboldt.edu.
