Meeting ID: 896 2432 8563

Passcode: Schaub

This presentation by David Loya, Arcata Director of Community Development, and Delo Freitas, Arcata Senior Planner, will include audience participation and Q&A. The Arcata General Plan will help shape how the city of Arcata will look, function, provide services, and manage resources for the next 20 years. The plan is the City's “constitution” for physical development and change within the existing and future city boundaries. Comprehensive in scope, the plan conveys the fundamental values that public decision-makers will use to guide the City's evolution, from its physical development to the ever-changing network of services provided to its citizens. (See here for more information about Arcata’s General Plan Update.)

In honor of Earth Week, the talk will include a focus on environmental concerns and climate resilience in planning.

The lecture series' namesake, Victor Schaub, was an Arcata civil attorney and professional mediator who was elected to the City Council in 1988 and served two terms, until 1996. He served as mayor from 1990-95. Victor died in 2004 at the age of 60, and the Victor Schaub Memorial Lecture series was established in his honor.
