8/28/2026 EMSS Division Communication
EMSS Team members:
Ready, set, GO! Welcome to the Fall 2026 semester!
This week has been a full one! Move-in, orientation, and welcome week were all a huge success and created an amazing vibe of engagement around campus! We even had a fabulous fiery octopus! Thanks to everyone for your amazing work in welcoming our new and returning students.
Whether you were away from campus for a time this summer, or you were here most days, I hope you took some time to enjoy family, fun and some nice weather.
Lots happened over the summer, so please take a moment to read all the updates below.
New Hires/Position Changes
In August we welcomed Dr. Molly Springer to campus – coming from CSU San Bernardino, she is our new AVP of Student Success and Dean of Students. Molly has been busy meeting with folks and learning all about Cal Poly Humboldt! And many thanks to Ravin Craig for stepping into the role of Interim Associate Dean of Students.
We also celebrated Chelsea Mooney who, after a successful search, accepted the position of Director of Admissions.
Please also join us in welcoming Jeff Koetter to GSAC as our new Office Coordinator! Jeff will play a key role in supporting GSAC’s administrative operations, University Ticket Office, and University Center Board administration. We’re excited to have him on board and look forward to working with him!
Welcome Amanda Anderson to the Center for Inclusive Academic & Career Excellence Team as the new Administrative Support Coordinator!
The CARE Team is finally fully staffed! Welcome to Amelia West, new Care Case Manager!
With my appointment as Interim Vice President, I am also grateful the following folks who are taking on interim leadership roles:
Jenni Robinson Reisinger, Interim AVP of Enrollment Management and University Registrar
Miriam Miner, Interim Director of Financial Aid
Melanie Bettenhausen, Interim Senior Director of Strategic Operations (including oversight of Strategic Student Communications)
Accolades
I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible work of our Housing & Residence Life team and our campus partners for an outstanding opening. This was one of the smoothest move-ins we've had in years, and that didn't happen by accident. It was the result of months of planning, collaboration, and an incredible commitment to our students. From preparing spaces and coordinating logistics to welcoming our residents, everyone stepped up in a big way. We had very few issues, and the feedback from students and families was overwhelmingly positive. Thank you to everyone who played a role in making this opening such a success. Your hard work did not go unnoticed, and Donyet King and I couldn't be more proud of what you all accomplished together.
Congratulations to the Orientation/Welcome Week Team, specifically Rachel Samuelson, our fantastic Orientation Coordinator. Orientation was spectacularly fun this year and an incredible success!
Shout out to the CARE team, Carlos Holguin from Strategic Student Communications, and Ash Hansen from Office of Student Life for stepping in during a crisis at Transfer Orientation. Quick thinking, compassion, and teamwork was on display in the support of a student with an emergency.
