Accolades
Congratulations to the Admissions team and campus partners who successfully offered two enrollment activities during the President’s Day week. We piloted our first Student for a Day event on Monday, Feb. 17, and Tuesday, Feb. 18. Over the course of two days, 60 students had the opportunity to attend two classes, take a campus tour, and hear from Admissions, Financial Aid, and Housing. This was in addition the special President's Weekend Informational Session hosted on Saturday, Feb. 15. During that event, 46 students plus guests, for a total of 141 visitors, experienced Cal Poly Humboldt first hand, including an informational session covering key topics such as Admissions, Financial Aid, and Housing, followed by a campus tour.
The Early Assessment Program, Nicolette Amann, and Rachel Watson completed the four-day, in-person Expository Reading and Writing Curriculum training for 17 local high school teachers this month. This innovative curriculum—born at the CSU—has changed how English teachers prepare high school students for college. Using rhetorical inquiry to encourage critical thinking, students learn strategies that help them thrive in college.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Take care of yourselves and each other,
Chrissy Holliday
