College Colors day is coming!  I hope you can take some time to be on a kickball team or be a cheerleader…or just come out that day and enjoy the festivities.  Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Upper Playing Field near the Redwood Bowl.

A helpful information tidbit from me:  If you’re anything like me, you’ve avoided attempting to get TSA precheck because of the hassle of having to do the in-person appointment out of town.  Well, there are now “pop-up” times at the Red Lion Hotel in Eureka a few days a month.  I went to the TSA precheck site, put in my zip code and the times came up for me to make an appointment.  The appointment took about 10 minutes, and I got my Known Traveler Number within a few days.  Easy peasy!

New Hires/Position Changes

Please join us in welcoming Amanda Kachevas as the official Clubs & Activities Coordinator in the Office of Student Life. Amanda joins us from the Gutswurrak Student Activities Center (GSAC), where she focused on event programming and student engagement. We’re excited to have Amanda continue supporting students in this role while coordinating GSAC events such as Green & Gold Days and Wellness Wednesdays in partnership with the Office of Student Life.

Accolades

Big shout outs to Donyet King and the housing team, as well as Travis Fleming and the FM team, along with out friends in Risk Management – who successfully navigated a water line break to the Canyon residence halls over the Labor Day weekend.  Students were kept informed and provided with drinking water, and repairs happened swiftly.  All is back to normal now.

College Ballot Bowl | Through Nov. 3​

With the General Election coming up on November 3, 2026, Cal Poly Humboldt is giving students an opportunity to put these values into action by participating in the 2026 California University and College Ballot Bowl.

The Ballot Bowl is a friendly statewide competition hosted by the California Secretary of State’s Students Vote Project. The competition runs until the election on November 3, 2026, and encourages students to register to vote, prepare to participate in the election, and promote civic engagement across campus.

Registering to vote or updating your voter registration 

Creating and submitting a plan to vote
