4/24/2026 EMSS Division Communication

April 24, 2026

EMSS Team Members:

Happy Friday, everyone! It has been an amazing but hectic week, coming off last week’s successful accreditation visit (not to mention Peggy Metzger’s hit performance of what may be the world’s only accreditation song!) and into spring wrap-up activities, starting with the amazing Outstanding Student Awards ceremony this week. This is one of our busiest seasons, but it is also one of the times I love the most, that truly reinforces the importance of the work we do.

As time allows, I invite you to learn more about happenings across our division and the campus:

Sign up to Volunteer for Late Night Breakfast

We are excited to announce that our Spring 2026 Late Night Breakfast is just around the corner, and we are in need of some fabulous volunteers to help make this event a success. The Late Night Breakfast has become a beloved tradition on our campus, and our volunteers always make it that much more special. The form is linked HERE.  The event will be held on May 11, and forms need to be submitted by Thursday, April 30! Two shifts are available that evening. Thank you in advance, and we look forward to making this Late Night Breakfast a special one. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Noel DiBenedetto at ext. 5698.

Transfer Student Registration

New transfer student registration is right around the corner! The first group of new Fall 2026 transfer students will begin the online registration tutorial on Monday 4/27, with advising and registration kickstarting the following week, on 5/4. Registration sessions will continue throughout the summer. We have over 490 students in the first session, and the Transfer & Graduation Counselor and Transfer Credit/Articulation teams have been busy processing transfer credit, evaluations, transcripts, updating degree audits (DARS), etc. in preparation of supporting students and the advising community during the upcoming session.

Dean of Students Office April 29 Closure

The Dean of Students Office will be closed on April 29 to ensure the CARE and DOS team can be up to date on all paperwork and student notes. CARE and Conduct reports will still be open, and any emergent needs can be emailed or G-chatted directly to ravin.craig@humboldt.edu

Fall Space Reservation Requests Now Open

It’s time to start planning for Fall 2026! Space reservation requests (submitted through 25Live) are now open. We encourage you to submit early to secure your preferred dates and locations. Need help getting started? Join CES weekly drop-in Zoom sessions every Monday from 2–4 PM through May 19, or reach out to Conference & Event Services at ces@humboldt.edu.

New Team Members and Transitions

Please join us in welcoming Corie Hall to the Gutswurrak Student Activities Center as our new Operations Coordinator. Corie will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the student union, ensuring our spaces remain welcoming, functional, and responsive to student needs. We’re excited to have her on board and look forward to working with her!

Also, please join me in sending a special thank you to Travis Richards, who has stepped up to support the Umoja Center through the end of the semester and into the summer, including helping with the year-end camping trip and the Black Grad Celebration.

Accolades

The Career Development Center would like to recognize the volunteers who supported events throughout the academic year. Students, staff, and faculty contributed to career fairs and resume/CV reviews, helping ensure strong support for students during the 2025–26 academic year. More than 86 volunteers in total supported our efforts to expand students’ career preparation - thank you to campus partners who made this possible.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Take care of yourselves and each other,

Chrissy Holliday
