Cal Poly Humboldt's Immediate Access Program Success

September 25, 2025

Hi everyone,

Some folks have mentioned they didn't see an email sent to All Faculty last week, so sending via myHumboldt.

We wanted to share that the Cal Poly Humboldt Immediate Access (IA) program for class materials and courseware has grown substantially this Fall from last Spring’s launch.

We launched last Spring, 2025, with just 3 sections.   We’ve grown the program to 19 sections this Fall.  Here’s an overview:

Spring 2025

Sections: 3

Students: 144

Op-Out: 1, .69% rate

Fall 2025

Sections: 19

Students: 628

Opt-Out: 11, 1.60%

Immediate Access courses currently include sections in Soil, Business, Anthropology, Communications, Chemistry, Dance, History, and Psychology.

Linked below is our short flier on the program and here are some FAQ’s on our Campus Store website: https://www.bkstr.com/calpolyhumboldtstore/help-faq/access

If you are currently using materials from The Campus Store (Follett) or working with a third party publisher, Immediate Access is a much better option for you for cost, ease and availability.

Students benefit from:

  • Having their materials available prior to day 1 of classes
  • They have portable access to all materials digitally
  • The lower costs of Immediate Access materials are automatically billed on the student’s account for potential financial aid coverage
  • Students can opt out if they want to use free OAR or alternate material sources

Let us know if you’d like information on Immediate Access and costs for your Spring 2026 courses.
