Interim Vice Provost Announcement
Dear HSU Colleagues,
I am very pleased to announce that Dr. Rock Braithwaite has agreed to serve as the Interim Vice Provost and Dean for Undergraduate and Graduate Studies. Rock’s appointment will be effective January 10, 2018. In his role as Interim Vice Provost, Rock will also serve as HSU's Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO).
During his tenure at HSU, Rock has served as Professor and Chair in the Department of Kinesiology and Recreation Administration (KRA), and as Chair of the campus Steering and Self-Study Committee during the current WSCUC reaccreditation process. Rock’s professional activities include developing and maintaining a state-approved teacher preparation subject matter program accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC), leading professional development experiences for K-12 teachers across California, and serving as consultant with numerous professional organizations to enhance teaching and learning environments in public schools. Rock’s relationships and connections with teachers and schools have allowed him to facilitate site-based learning programs for undergraduate and graduate students to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
Rock holds an Ed.D. in Pedagogy (Curriculum and Instruction) from the University of Northern Colorado. His research agenda includes several collaborative and funded projects that are focused on children/adolescent health and the quality of physical education/activity programs to address public health concerns. Rock’s expertise is in statistically synthesizing the literature using meta-analytic techniques to provide a direction and magnitude of effect within teaching-learning and health contexts.
Please join me in welcoming Rock to his new role as interim Vice Provost and ALO.
