Alex Enyedi, HSU’s Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, has been named the 11th President of the State University of New York, Plattsburgh.

His appointment was announced earlier today at a meeting of the SUNY Board of Trustees, and is effective Jan. 21, 2020.

“On behalf of the HSU family, I congratulate Dr. Enyedi on his appointment to one of the greatest opportunities on this earth, leading a public university in service to others,” said President Tom Jackson. “Dr. Enyedi is a very talented person with a heart and soul directed toward service to others. He will lead SUNY Plattsburgh with integrity and honor. His commitment to students and to faculty at HSU has been significant. He will be missed, and his enormous contributions to HSU are appreciated.”

Dr. Enyedi has served as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at HSU since 2015. He oversees the University’s largest division, which includes the academic colleges and many other areas.

He previously served as the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Western Michigan University. He joined the WMU faculty in 1993 as an assistant professor in the Department of Biological Sciences.

HSU will appoint an Interim Provost this week. There will be a national search for a new Provost, with opportunity for input and participation from individuals across campus. Details of the search plan will be shared when they are finalized.
