Fall 2020 Professional Development

August 3, 2020

Dear HSU Faculty and Staff:

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the focus of this year’s Professional Development Day is on instructional continuity. The Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) will host a two-day series of faculty development workshops and self-paced resources to assist with instructional continuity in both virtual and face-to-face instructional settings. These events will take place on August 17-18, 2020  as follows:

New Faculty Orientation: August 13-14

New Lecturer Orientation: August 19

Prepare to Teach workshops: August 17-18

A two-day series of faculty development workshops and self-paced resources to assist with instructional continuity in both virtual and face-to-face instructional settings.

Virtual Office Hours: The CTL will have virtual drop-in office hours throughout the week to provide instructors with 1:1 attention as they prepare for the start of the fall semester. The Center’s website has been populated with additional resources for faculty use.

The CTL is ready and poised to support and collaborate with faculty to support teaching and learning excellence. Additional, detailed information will be posted on the CTL’s homepage and event page by August 10. Please feel free to contact the CTL (ctl@humboldt.edu) with any questions.

To prepare the campus for fall, HSU has also implemented a one-stop website HSU Campus Ready, where you can find detailed information about the preparations for the coming Fall semester. This clearinghouse of information is organized so that students, faculty, and staff can find the answers they’re looking for regarding instruction, residence life, operations, health and safety, student support, and more. It also provides the most recent announcements as well as information about the planning structure.

Thank you for your continued support of inclusive student success. We look forward to partnering to make Fall 2020 a success.

Best,

Dr. Mary Oling-Sisay, Vice Provost and Dean of Graduate and Undergraduate Studies

Dr. Jenn Capps, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs
