Come Learn about Sustainability & STARS at HSU!

October 3, 2017

The HSU Office of Sustainability welcomes all campus stakeholders to a presentation in which to learn about the latest results from our submission to the Sustainability, Tracking, Assessment, & Rating System (STARS) in spring 2017. The presentation will be held on Wednesday, October 18,, 2017 from 5:30pm- 7pm in the Native Forum BSS 162.

STARS is a transparent, self-reporting framework that colleges and universities use to measure their sustainability performance in four main sectors: Academics (AC), Engagement (EN), Operations (OP), and Planning & Administration (PA). During the 2016-2017 academic year, HSU completed the assessment for the second time, securing a Gold Rating with 69.28 percentage points. Overall, the campus had improved its STARS score by about 14 percentage points since conducting the first iteration of the assessment in 2013. In this presentation, students, staff, and faculty are invited to learn about HSU's approach to data collection, to review select findings from the report, to find out where to view full results for HSU and other institutions, and to hear about planned steps for achieving iterative improvement. Stakeholders will hear from Katie Koscielak, Sustainability Analyst, and TC Comet, Director of Sustainability, as well as other campus stakeholders who participated in STARS during 2016-2017.
