Required Training for Employees Who Work with Hazardous Materials/Waste

Based on this year’s Health and Safety audit report (link), every employee that deals with Hazardous Materials or Waste will be required to participate on HAZMAT and HAZWASTE training.

Corliss Bennett Named Director of Student Success Outcomes

As part of the ongoing realignment of services to best support student success, Dr. Corliss Bennett has been named the Director of Student Success Outcomes reporting to the Associate Vice President for Student Success in the Division of Enrollment Management.  

Flash Flood Event 9/18/19

Yesterday evening, shortly after 5:00 pm, the campus was hit with a deluge of water spanning approximately 45 minutes.  The volume of water experienced in this short time period impacted several of our buildings. 

Facilities Maintenance staff was on site well into the evening dealing with the impacts.  We may continue to see impacts as the water continues to seep into other locations, both at the facilities we addressed last night as well as others beyond the immediate flood path. 

Building Submetering Water Shut Off - Saturday, Sept. 21

Campus Community,

The building submetering project is scheduled to continue this Saturday, September 21st. 

As part of the project, the Student Health Center, Siemens Hall, and the Natural Resources building will be undergoing plumbing work. This work involves shutting off the water to the buildings and surrounding buildings beginning at 7:00 am with an estimated completion time of 11:00 pm.

2019-20 Graduation Initiative 2025 Allocations have been Posted

Graduation Initiative 2025 Allocations that were approved during the 2019-20 budget planning process have been distributed and budget for each approved request has been posted as reflected on the final approved list. Thank you to everyone who participated in this process and for all the exciting investments that are underway to support our students.

Access to Buildings Update

First, it is the responsibility of all key holders to have their keys available for access to their work spaces.
If you have misplaced your keys and need access to your work areas:

1) Check if your department can let you in the locked area
2) Call University Police Department (UPD) to request access
a. UPD will ask you if you have checked with your department first
3) UPD will check that you have permission to access the requested space
4) UPD will check if an officer is available

Hiring a Diverse Faculty Webinar Series

All faculty, staff, and administrators who are serving or will serve on hiring committees are welcome to attend or log in. For more information contact: ODEI x4503.

This webinar series will be distributed among 4 modules that will take place over the course of 4 different days. Each module is specific to a certain topic pertaining to hiring. Each module can be streamed through ODEI's website. On the website will be a link that anyone can click on to stream the webinar. If you can, however, have time to stop by in person, it will be in Goodwin Forum from 9 - 11 AM.

Daily Lunch Deals from Dining Services

Back by popular demand, HSU Dining Services is now offering low-cost daily lunch deals at the Depot and College Creek Marketplace! Each daily lunch deal will be priced between $1.99 and $3.99 and will be available Monday through Friday. Bean burritos and a variety of half sandwiches with chips are just some items to choose from. Menus change regularly and quantities are limited.  


New Store Manager of the Humboldt State University Bookstore

Chris Leach has been appointed the new Store Manager of the Humboldt State University Bookstore.  Chris has been working as the Operations Manager in the bookstore and has been the primary contact for course materials.  During his time on campus, he has helped to build a strong team of committed staff members and to reach out to the campus community as a responsive and committed campus partner. 

Chris holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Lewis – Clark State College in Lewiston Idaho.
