New Dates Added: Free Immigration Legal Services for HSU Students & Employees

Students & Colleagues: 

New dates have been added for Free Immigration Legal Services.  The opportunities to meet confidentially with an Immigration Law Expert has expanded through the use of ZOOM meetings. 

There are several dates throughout the semester when appointments are available (see attached) as well as an in-person DACA Renewal Clinic scheduled for December 7th.  If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment, please call the EOP Reception at 707-826-4781.  ZOOM meeting connections and office support are provided.

Participants will learn about strategies and guidelines for working with students of concern and the resources available to assist you and the student. Our two sessions this semester are:

Soccer Field to Reopen on Saturday

With the soccer field off-line this week and the benefit of favorable weather, the Facilities Grounds crew was able to make significant progress on repairing the damage caused by last week’s flash flood.  Facilities Management, Risk Management, and Athletics have inspected the repairs and have approved reopening the field on Saturday, September 28.

Thank you for your patience while repairs were completed.  Facilities Management, Risk Management, and Athletics will continue to monitor the field and may need to make future scheduling adjustments. 

Laurel and B Street Closure Effective 9/30/19

Beginning Monday, September 30, continuing through Wednesday, October 9, 2019, the seismic retrofit contractor will be working on crosswalk improvements for the western lanes of Laurel Drive at the top of B Street.  Due to the nature of this work activity, the west portion of the intersection will need to be closed to vehicular traffic so that the existing pavement and structural sections can be demolished and rebuilt safely.  Pedestrian flow traveling north up B Street will be routed over toward Jenkins Hall to use the eastern crosswalk, and can then can continue north through campus, or

CalPERS Retirement Planning: One-On-One Appointments Available

CalPERS Retirement Planner, Henry Wang, will be on campus Thursday November 7, 2019 to meet one-on-one with employees who are planning to retire on or before 12/31/2020.

Henry can answer questions about the CalPERS retirement process, provide insight on what to keep in mind when deciding to retire, and even walk you through the retirement application itself.

Please call Ariel Aaron at ext. 5171 to reserve an appointment. These appointments will be held in Nelson Hall East room 119 (there is no automatic calendaring system, please make sure you mark it your own calendar).

Temporary Closure of College Creek Soccer Field

After consultation with Facilities Management, Risk Management and Athletics, the College Creek Soccer Field is closed, effective immediately, due to damage caused by the recent rain event.  Several areas have lifted up creating potential trip hazards.  Facilities Management will perform repairs.  Another message will be released when the field is opened. Repairs are expected to be completed by the end of this week. 

Addition of Iowa to Banned Travel States, AB 1887

On September 13, 2019 Attorney General Xavier Becerra announced that lowa would be added to the list of banned travel states, which can be viewed below. The effective date of this ban is October 4, 2019. 

Update: Required Training for Employees Who Work with Hazardous Materials/Waste

Based on this year’s Health and Safety audit report (attached below), every employee that deals with Hazardous Materials or Waste will be required to participate on HAZMAT and HAZWASTE training.
