Staff Council is having its ninth meeting of the 2019/20 academic year! Please join us on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, via Zoom from 1:30pm - 3pm. This meeting is open to everyone on campus and community members, please join us!

Mail and Package Service for Campus

To observe social distancing and reduce the number of people on campus, effective immediately, the University has implemented a mail and package services plan. One person per department(s)/area(s) will be assigned to oversee drop-off, pick up, and scanning and sending mail (via email) at various locations and times. 

Non-Academic Departments: Human Resources Training Specialist Nancy Olson will contact Key Advisors to provide details on designating a person to oversee mail and package services for their department/area.

Topics include benefits and leave options, payroll, telecommuting, unemployment insurance, employment, and more. Because HR guidelines and policies are often subject to change, please check this page frequently for the latest updates.

Covid-19-Related Emergency Pay for CSUEU, IUOE, and Teamsters 2010

The CSU Chancellor’s Office has enacted the emergency pay provisions in the California State University Employees Union (Units 2, 5, 7 and 9), International Union of Operating Engineers (Unit 10) and Teamsters 2010 (Unit 6) collective bargaining agreements (CBA). Generally, emergency pay is additional pay for  employees who work outside the scope of their normal duties when campus is closed due to an emergency situation.

Zagster Bike Share Rentals Suspended

The Zagster Bike Share company has suspended all rentals of its bikes at HSU, in Arcata, and elsewhere until further notice. This step has been taken to prioritize the safety of riders and maintenance staff during the COVID-19 outbreak. Although you may still see bikes at the Harry Griffith Hall and JGC Zagster stations, the bikes have been disabled.

Parking Permit Refunds for Staff and Faculty

Starting with the May 1 paycheck, monthly payroll deductions for staff and faculty parking permits will be suspended until further notice.

Staff and faculty who purchased a Spring parking permit will automatically be refunded 25% of the purchased price. Please allow 2-4 weeks for refunds to be processed. You will receive an email from the HSU Cashier’s Office when your refund has been processed.

Travel to areas with community level transmission of COVID-19 increases the risk of exposure and transmission to our campus and local community. In the interest of protecting our students, staff, faculty, and local community, and to decrease the likelihood of occupational transmission, Humboldt State University is directing the following of employees who work on campus

Call for Nominations: 2020 HSU Sustainability Champion Awards

HSU is accepting nominations for its third annual Sustainability Champion Awards program, to recognize individuals whose practices have deepened a culture of sustainability, have furthered the integration of sustainability into academics, student life or campus culture, and/or reduced HSU’s environmental footprint. Complete the nomination form by Friday, April 17, 2020 to nominate a student, staff or faculty member for an award.
