HSU Continues to Support DACA Community

Dear HSU Community,

As you know, the U.S. Supreme Court has recently heard oral arguments in regard to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. It is widely anticipated that their ruling will likely be issued near the end of June 2020, but may come as early as January 2020. During these uncertain times, we recognize the added stress and difficulty this places on our DACA and undocumented students and their families.

Seeking Feedback About Campus Budget Planning

The University Resources & Planning Committee hosted a campus forum on budget planning on Nov. 7, the first of two campus meetings related to the URPC’s work to develop a three-year balanced budget plan. It included a presentation on context as well as interactive opportunities for individuals to provide input.

There are a number of ways for the University community to learn more and continue providing feedback on-campus budget planning, all of which are available on the Budget website.

Process for Filling Staff Vacancies at Humboldt State University

Budget and enrollment realities at Humboldt State University require hard decisions to be made on backfilling staff positions. The University remains committed to preserving the employment of current staff on our campus and ensuring the highest quality of service to our students.

In accordance with the collective bargaining agreements, the following process to fill staff-level-positions is in place:

Samoa Facility Open House Rescheduled

You’re invited to the HSU Samoa Facility open house and visioning. The events were rescheduled due to PG&E power shutdowns.

Humboldt State is looking for thoughts and ideas about how to creatively use the Samoa Facility, a 51,500-square-foot space located at 1601 Samoa Boulevard in Arcata. The space was purchased in 2008 and is currently used for storage.

This is an opportunity for community partnerships and collaboration—would you like to see an innovation center, research center, makers’ space, or something else?

Campus Closed Friday, Nov. 29

As published in the Green and Gold calendar, the campus will be closed the day after Thanksgiving, which is not covered by a holiday. All employees taking this day off who are not academic-year faculty will need to use leave credits, CTO, or dock on November 29.
