MAP-Works is Making Achievement Possible for students

Maximizing student success is HSU's number one priority. With that in mind, the campus has adopted MAP-Works (Making Achievement Possible) to help faculty and advising staff identify students who may be struggling, and provide them with information and actions to help the student get back on track. In addition to helping faculty make referrals to student support units, MAP-Works will also automate the current manual "Mid-Semester Evaluation" process. While user guides are currently available, training will be provided throughout the semester.

Merger of Academic Personnel Services and Human Resources

Dear Colleagues,I am very pleased to announce a reorganization that, by design, underscores my commitment to recognize and support all employees of Humboldt State University. Academic Personnel Services and Human Resources will merge into one division that will be led by Dr. Colleen Mullery.

New Diversity Training Required for Staff/Administrator Search Committees

As highlighted in President Richmond’s recent Convocation address, advancing HSU’s vision in the area of diversity is among our top institutional priorities. Just last week, we released the HSU Campus Diversity Plan 2013+, which outlines current initiatives, future goals, and strategies for institutionalizing campus diversity, equity, and inclusivity.

Warm Weather and Campus Buildings

With the recent warm weather it has been difficult to maintain comfortable temperatures in some of our campus’s buildings. Facilities Management is doing its best to keep them cool. Because most buildings do not have mechanical cooling equipment, the only option is to circulate air from outside throughout the buildings. Once outdoor temperatures rise above 70 degrees, it becomes difficult to keep the building interiors comfortable. In an effort to mitigate the warm afternoon temperatures, buildings are being ventilated earlier in the mornings.
